Glade

Menurut keterangan dari situs resminya,
Glade is a RAD tool to enable quick & easy development of user interfaces for the GTK+ toolkit and the GNOME desktop environment.

Saya: Maaf bos, mungkin saya lagi lapar . eh ngantuk :v

Kenapa saya buat artikel ini?

Apa hubungannya?
Saya katakan sebenarnya Glade dan Builder itu seperti sepasang kekasih. kenapa?
Karena fungsi Glade itu sendiri adalah sebagai RAD ( Rapid Application Development ) tools, tepatnya untuk mendesain UI yang nantinya digunakan oleh developer guna mempercepat proses pembuatan aplikasi.
Jadi developer tidak harus menulis UI dengan manual, mungkin kamu gak tau gimana ribetnya kalau membuat tampilan GUI dengan kode program. nih saya kasih contoh

Nah, itu hanya untuk membuat window kosong/blank dengan ukuran 200x200. Ribet?
Disinilah Glade berperan, developer tidak perlu susah payah membuat objek semacam window tadi dengan kode, juga tidak perlu lagi mengatur posisi objek-objek tersebut ( tombol, teks, dll ) dengan menggunakan kode.

Yup. Nantinya desain yang telah dibuat dengan Glade akan disimpan dalam format XML (.xml) dan dapat di muat ( load ) dengan Gtk.Builder. pengembang hanya perlu memanggil kembali objek-objek tersebut.
Ada banyak sekali bahasa pemrogramman yang sudah support Glade, misalnya C, C++, C#, Vala, Java, Perl, Python, dan masih banyak lagi lainnya.

Install Glade?

Biasanya glade sudah tersedia di repository resmi tiap distro, jadi bisa disesuaikan.
Buat pengguna ubuntu mungkin bisa menginstall glade dengan perintah "sudo apt install glade"

Gnome Builder

Nama ini mungkin masih asing bagi sebagian besar orang, mungkin termasuk kamu yang juga baru menyadari keberadaan tools kelas dewa ini setelah membaca artikel ini. #LoL
Tapi nama ini tentunya tidak asing lagi bagi mereka para developer software linux, khususnya mereka yang memang kesehariannya berada dilingkungan gnome.

Lalu apa itu Builder ( Gnome Builder )?

Builder is a new IDE for GNOME that is focused on bringing the power of our platform to more developers than ever before. [...]
Nah, jadi intinya Builder adalah sebuah IDE yang dikembangkan khusus untuk membuat aplikasi gnome.

 Mungkin kamu bertanya-tanya
"Lho.. buat gnome doang? lalu bagaimana dengan platform lain? apakah aplikasi yang dibuat dengan Builder hanya dapat berjalan dilingkungan gnome?"

 Geezz.. memang awalnya Builder dibuat hanya untuk memudahkan para developer gnome, tapi bukan berarti aplikasi yang dibuat dengan Builder hanya dapat berjalan di gnome saja.
Dengan Builder, pengembang tidak lagi di repotkan dengan konfigurasi ini itu ( autotools, meson, etc. ) yang memakan banyak waktu, jadi hampir semuanya serba otomatis.

 Yuk intip seperti apa interface dari Builder ini.

Geary -
Geary is an email application built for GNOME 3. It allows you to read and send email with a simple, modern interface.
Dewasa kini email memiliki peranan penting dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Apalagi buat mereka para pengusaha, mahasiswa/i, dan para pegiat lain yang kesehariannya memang tidak jauh dari komputer/laptop, smartphone, dan gatget lainnya yang selalu terhubung ke internet.

Email dapat diakses langsung dari webmail yang disediakan oleh penyedia layanan, misalnya Gmail yang dapat diakses melalui mail.google.com atau gmail.com.
Namun ada kalanya kita menginginkan agar email kita selalu up-to-date jadi kita gak harus bolak-balik memeriksa webmail apakah ada email baru atau tidak.
Maka dari itu kita membutuhkan Email Client/Mail Desktop Client untuk melakukan hal tersebut.

Dari sekian banyak email client yang bertebaran di internet khusunya buat pengguna linux, ialah Geary email client simple berbasis GTK yang dikembangkan oleh komunitas Yorba ( Yorba was a non-profit free software group based in San Francisco that was active from 2009 until early 2015. This site lists the programs Yorba developed, all of which are now hosted at GNOME )

Kabar gembira buat kamu Linux user, kini telah hadir aplikasi streaming radio berbasis GTK ( Plus headerbarnya itu lho ).
Sebenarnya saya agak telat memposting ini mengingat Gradio sekarang sudah versi 4.0.1.
Tapi gak apalah, daripada tidak sama sekali.

Membuat Launcher Dengan MenuLibre

Ada kalanya aplikasi yang kita install tidak secara otomatis menambahkan shortcut nya ke Menu ( lebih familiar - Start Menu ).
Dalam kasus saya, aplikasi tersebut tidak menambahkan shortcutnya ke Slingshot ( eOs Launcher ) dan tentu saja saya dibuatnya repot karena setiap kali saya ingin menjalankan aplikasi tersebut saya harus membuka terminal terlebih dahulu ( ya.. buat saya itu sedikit merepotkan ).

Katakan saja aplikasi yang saya maksud adalah XAMPP, mungkin kamu juga pernah menginstall aplikasi serupa dan dengan hasil yang serupa pula, yaitu tanpa shortcut.
Kita bisa membuatnya secara manual, dan sangat mudah dengan bantuan MenuLibre
Langsung cek ke repository https://launchpad.net/~menulibre-dev/+archive/ubuntu/devel

Tambah PPA

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:menulibre-dev/devel
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install menulibre

Kemudian buka menulibre ( Menu Editor )
Menu Libre
Klik tombol " + " dibagian kiri atas untuk menambahkan directory maupun launcher baru.
Untuk contoh, saya akan menambahkan launcher XAMPP Control Panel

Klik tombol " + " dan kemudian Add Launcher
New Launcher

Ganti tulisan "New Launcher" dengan nama aplikasi yang akan dibuat launchernya, dan klik dibawahnya untuk menambahkan keterangan/deskripsi.
Sementara kotak disebelah kiri untuk menambahkan icon
Command: Perintah yang akan dijalankan

Karena XAMPP Control panel membutuhkan akses root, maka saya menggunakan gksu
Command: gksu /opt/lampp/manager-linux-x64.run

Kenapa PPSSPP?
Karena PPSSPP mampu memberikan pengalaman bermain game PSP di perangkat selain konsole PSP itu sendiri. dalam kasus saya menggunakan Laptop dengan OS Linux dan berjalan dengan sangat baik tentunya. Ya, mengingat game di linux sangat terbatas mungkin ini salah satu solusi. Lain hal nya dengan windows yang memiliki berjuta game di dalamnya.

uGet is a lightweight and full-featured Download Manager for Linux and Windows. uGet allows you to download in multiple parallel streams for download acceleration, put files in a Download Queue, Pause & Resume downloads, Advanced Category Management, Browser Integration, Clipboard Monitoring, Batch Downloads, localized into 23 Languages, and many more features.

The uGet Project started back in January 2003 as UrlGet and throughout the years has had a few name variations until we settled on "uGet" in 2008.

uGet was originally a GTK+2 based application that worked on various GTK+2 based distributions but in 2011 was upgraded to GTK+3 in anticipation of the technology advancement in the Linux Desktop. uGet still works on distributions that use GTK+2 but users will need to also add the GTK+3 packages to their system.

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:pidgin-developers/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install pidgin
Maka anda akan mendapatkan pidgin versi terbaru

Adalah aplikasi audio player atau pemutar musik multiplatform dengan desain modern dan navigasi yang mudah dipahami awam.
Nama amarok sendiri berasal dari nama album amarok oleh Mike Oldfield yang secara bahasa berarti serigala, dan memang menggunakan gambar serigala sebagai ikon nya.

Lalu apa yang baru?
  • The MusicBrainz tagger was significantly improved.
  • Amarok is now power-management aware with a pair of new options in the configuration.
  • The Audio analyzer visualisation is back: the widget is configurable by right click on it and it sits prominently under the Current Track widget.
  • The GUI layout can now be reset to default, so no more shuffling elements around if you want to go back to the original view.
  • Local Collection and Collection Browser were fixed to update correctly when tracks are changed or removed.
  • The Nepomuk Collection was improved to query the Nepomuk database dynamically.
  • Other new features: Opus codec support (with transcoding, needs recent TagLib), more keyboard shortcuts, ASX playlist support, improved file browser, better feedback for unplayable tracks, Last.fm integration improvements and much more.
